Brunch at Ole & Steen

Boxcar Baker & Deli - Marylebone

After the success of Boxcar Butcher & Grill, the team opened this lovely cafe only last September, and it has already become one of the favorites of Marylebone’s community.

If the smell of homemade bread is what teases you, the atmosphere is what makes you come back; from traditional pies at the Deli counter to Swedish pastries and cakes this Scandinavian-Style corner is just as cute as it sounds, and to make it even better, their environment-friendly offer of 50% off all breads and pastries after 6 pm is just spot on.

Monocle Cafe - Chiltern Street

Located in one of the prettiest streets of Marylebone, this teeny-tiny cafe is a must pit-stop for any local and non where to indulge in a quick bite while reading updates on the Monocle Magazine, their showcase on culture and design that seem to bring together la crème de la crème of londoneers.

If the pastries from Fabrique bakery are notably Swedish, the atmosphere is instead very Japanese; extremely wabi-sabi -but yet very exclusive- in a way that will make you feel miles away London’s frenetic life.

Cinnamon Social - Ole & Steen

This Danish Bakery would deserves a special mention even just for their “Cinnamon Social”, a surprisingly addictive pastry filled with cinnamon and custard that seems to make everyone go crazy.

Although the atmosphere is much less vibrant than other cafes, (the Marylebone branch has few nice tables by the window that are worth a seat) the quality of their breads, avocado toasts and delicious cakes rarely leaves this place without a queue to the door, the proof of the pudding is in the eating!

Nordic Bakery - Soho

Cinnamon-roll-lover might as well find their Eden when entering this corner of Scandinavia just off the busy streets of Soho.

Nordic bakery is still one of those places where you have to show up early if you want to put your hands on their mouth-watering pastries because when they are finished, they are finished (and believe me you really want one of those while sipping your first black coffee of the day).

Daisy Green - Marylebone

Poached eggs on charcoal toast, Aleppo chilli and avocado

This Australian cafe’ is a combination healthy bites and chilled atmosphere in the lively Portman Village, spiced up by Alice in Wonderland - inspired indoor garden on the basement.

If the location is particularly suitable for millennial’s instagrams, their brunches and artisan coffees are definitely worth a visit for a relaxed bite Down Under style.

Brompton Food Market - South Kensington

One of local’s favourite stop, but still well repaired from that trend tourism, this hidden spot is an independent deli, cafe and grocer all under one roof and features a secret garden where you can sip your cappuccino in total relax sitting on faux fur and wrapped like a sausage in their fluffy blankets.

As if this was not enough they have a beautiful timber library displaying with food goodies of any type (from refined wines to special chocolates) and a counter always filled with fresh cakes that would tease even the strictest human being.

Elan Cafe - Market Place

This is the kind of place that any Londoner would probably pass by thinking “oh another millennial pink-everything kitchness”, but then walk few steps back and try to put the head inside this kind of fairy land that seems to make every girl’s childhood dream come true.

Assuming that you actually managed to fight dozens of dress-to-match teenagers too worried about the caption for their instagram feed, you can actually take a sit at one of the pretty marble tables and enjoy a more than decent cup of coffee (or more trendy Matcha Latte) paired with one of the stunning (and I must admit also delicious) handcrafted cakes.

After the super success of the first shop on Park Lane the company is opening new branches all over London but, if you find yourself wandering around Marylebone/ Fitzrovia in desperate need of glittery caffeine, I would recommend to try the venue on Market Place, definitely more quiet and elegant than it’s sisters in Knightsbridge and Park Lane.
